Miguel is almost three months old and was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate. He has two older brothers; Cesar is six and Luis is five. His mother is only 21 years old. Miguel and his brothers live with their parents in their grandparent’s house. There are a total of 13 people living in a one room house with concrete walls and a dirt floor. They do not have electricity or a bathroom and use the nearby river for bathing, washing clothes, and going to the bathroom. Miguel’s father works in the fields but unfortunately doesn’t give any money to his mother to support the family and often uses his salary for drinking. His family needs the help of sponsorship to be able to buy him formula and help him get the surgeries he needs.
