The dentists pulled another 51.5 teeth today.

We also had quite a few interesting patients in our emergency room today. This morning a boy who had been electrocuted came in. He had grabbed an open wire yesterday evening and burned his hand badly. He will lose mobility in the hand, but otherwise he should be okay. The good news is that he has a family who really cares about his We also had a 15 month old patient come in to us with malaria. He had been sick for three days, but was unable to come to the clinic yesterday due to the gas strike, and today he had a fever of 105. We began chloroquine, and he will hopefully return to the clinic tomorrow. A woman with TB also came in. She had been treated for TB for 8 months 2 years ago. It had been dormant. However, when the earthquake destroyed the TB treatment center, she hadn’t received treatment since.  We referred her to another TB clinic where she will receive treatment.

At the construction site, the foundation progresses on the new house as we continue to carry buckets of cement, water, and wheelbarrows of rocks. Rilbert, the father with the sick boy, is working with us on the construction site, and very grateful for the work we give him.
