Juan Roberto is six years old and will start first grade in January 2014 at the school in the village. His grandfather recognized him as his son because the father left and didn’t want to recognize him. Juan Roberto has two older sisters. He lives with his sisters and his mother along with his mother’s parents. Juan Roberto likes to play soccer with his friends. They live in a two room house with a bathroom. His mother sells tortillas and his grandfather is a day laborer. The family usually eats tortillas for three meals a day with beans, boiled herbs or eggs.
